The Story of a 10-Year Partnership
Headquartered in Rochester, NY, Monro, Inc. is a leading, independently-owned and operated auto service and tire provider with over 1,200 stores in 32 states. They own 10 unique brands (besides ‘Monro’) that offer complete auto care and service at exceptional savings.
Pixelpunk has partnered with Monro for over 10 years, providing graphic design, marketing collateral, email marketing services, and social media content. During that time, Monro has experienced significant growth, adding stores and customers year over year.
I’m on retainer with Monro. They pay me an established rate for a set amount of hours each month to guarantee that I’m always available whenever a graphic design need arises. I work at the direction of the Creative Director, who provides an initial creative brief, feedback during the iterative process, and ultimately, final approval.

The latest web design and re-brand was completed by the team at Mason Marketing (Nice job!). To support their work, I regularly provide Monro with various graphic assets to keep the site up to date. Coupons and promotions, like the examples below, are updated on a monthly and sometimes weekly basis.
In the past, I’ve also consulted with Monro on search engine optimization (specifically, localized search for individual stores) as well as providing all of the various assets for Pay Per Click (PPC) marketing campaigns.

Print Design & Production
You know all of those advertising supplements that fall out of the Sunday paper when you open the comics section? Yeah, that’s partly my fault, sorry (not sorry, lol).
The majority of my time at Monro is spent putting together the thousands of print advertising materials that are sent to various newspapers around the country. I produce everything from direct mail postcards to advertising insert flyers. You can see the examples below. Each one of the 10 brands have their own logos, color guidelines, and often unique coupons and offers, so it’s a lot to juggle!
I remember when I lived in Baltimore, I used to walk down to the newspaper stand on Sundays just so I could see my fliers.

“A creative and hardworking designer…”
“Mike has an excellent work ethic and always comes through under pressure. A creative and hardworking designer, he took ownership of our high-volume/short turnaround projects, ensuring that everything was done right and on time, every time. Mike is a true team player. I would gladly accept the chance to work with him again in the future.”

Social Media Content Creation
Working from a brief provided by the Creative Director, I design and/or produce Social Media assets for Monro to use on their very active Facebook account. In addition to re-purposing the promotional content provided for the website, there’s a focus on producing useful, relevant, and engaging content that can help educate customers, so they become more informed buyers.

Monro Mobile App
In the age of responsive web design, Monro’s original mobile application was retired, but I was proud to have designed the first iteration. For this screenshot, I took the original prototype and updated it with the current logo and brand standards.
